Makurdi, the capital of Benue state, is currently witnessing a significant surge in security measures surrounding the Benue Assembly complex.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this has raised speculations that the highly disputed Executive Pension Bill might be passed into law today.
The complex is being closely monitored by three security vehicles, with armed mobile and regular police officers strategically positioned in and around the area.
Adding to the security presence, this newspaper learnt that burly individuals sporting intense gazes, thick moustaches, and muscular physiques akin to professional fighters, remain on standby at the Assembly complex.
Ever since Governor Samuel Ortom presented the Executive Pension Bill to the House of Assembly, strong opposition has emerged against its potential passage.
In fact, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has taken the matter to court, seeking an injunction to prevent lawmakers from taking any action on the bill.
