Strengthen Security, Foster Peace — APC Chairman Charges Plateau Residents

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has urged residents of Plateau State to unite in tackling insecurity across the state.

Yilwatda made the appeal during a visit to Kanam Local Government Area on Sunday, following recent attacks by bandits that claimed the lives of several people, including soldiers and vigilante officers.

He called on residents not to leave security entirely to law enforcement but to actively participate in strengthening safety measures in their communities to ensure peace and freedom from fear.

During the visit, Yilwatda also paid a courtesy call to the Emir of Kanam, Alh. Muhammadu Mu’azu Muhammadu, at his palace.

He condoled with the victims, extended his sympathies to the affected families, and expressed solidarity with the entire emirate during this difficult period.

“At a time like this, my thoughts are firmly with the affected families, and I stand in solidarity with the entire Emirate, praying for comfort for those who suffered losses and for the swift restoration of peace, unity, and stability across Kanam,” he said.

Yilwatda commended the people of Kanam for their resilience, courage, and unity in the face of adversity.

“These qualities are a powerful reminder that even in difficult moments, hope and collective determination can prevail.

“It is therefore incumbent on all of us, leaders and citizens alike, to renew our commitment to fostering peace, strengthening security, and building a future where every community can thrive without fear,” he added.
