JUST IN: US Sends Delegation to Anambra Following Deadly Attack on Officials [PHOTO]

Following the tragic attack on May 16 that claimed the lives of four US officials and five police officers, a delegation from the Embassy of the United States of America has visited the Navy Base in Onitsha, Anambra State.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the attack believed to be carried out by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), occurred in the Ogbaru area of the state.

The delegation, led by Mr. Jim Suor, the regional security officer of the US Consulate in Lagos, expressed their gratitude to the Navy for their swift action in rescuing two embassy staff members who were abducted during the incident.

During the courtesy visit on Saturday, May 20, 2023, the US delegation met with Navy Captain G Osuobeni, the Commander of the base.

According to a source, the head of the US team commended the efforts of the Nigerian Navy and expressed the US Government’s profound appreciation for the support and dedication of the security agencies in Anambra State, especially the Nigerian Navy, Daily Trust reports.

“The head of the US team stated that the US Government is highly appreciative of the efforts of security agencies in Anambra state particularly the efforts and supports of the Nigerian navy,” the source revealed.
