BREAKING: Terrorists Bomb Bridge in Niger State, Many Feared Dead

Suspected terrorists have bombed a bridge along Luma Road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State in what authorities believe was an attempt to disrupt troop movements during ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Monday.
The damaged bridge connects the Luma, Babana, and Agwara communities, areas that have suffered repeated attacks in recent times.
Residents said the destruction has also affected commercial activities, particularly the Babana border market, which holds every Monday, as traders were unable to access the area.
The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the attack, noting that the assailants are suspected to have operated from the Kainji National Park.
He said an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was used to carry out the bombing.
He stated that the incident was reported at about 6:30 a.m., indicating that the explosion had occurred earlier in the day.
According to him, the attack appears aimed at undermining security operations in the area, adding that monitoring and clearance operations have since been intensified.
Meanwhile, sources disclosed that a commercial vehicle carrying eight passengers reportedly ran over another IED along the Nuku-Woro Road, resulting in the death of all occupants.
Residents believe the explosive may have been planted by bandits. However, the police have yet to officially confirm the reported killing of the eight travellers.
