The coordinator of Alex Otti inauguration committee, Iheanacho Obioma, on Wednesday, May 24, said Abia State would, on Monday, May 29, celebrate its joining of the League of progressive states in the country.
Obioma stated this while briefing newsmen on the committee’s preparations for the swearing-in of Alex Otti of the Labour Party as the governor of the state on the date in Umuahia, the state capital.
“As part of the activities planned towards the inauguration, several activities by different groups across the state and outside have been lined up. So, we are addressing you on the events being anchored by us,” he said.
According to the member of the House of Representatives for Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency from 1999-2003, the theme of the occasion is “The Alex Otti inaugural…. Help is here.”
“This is a direct follow-up and result to the Alex Otti campaign organization’s battle charge to Ndi Abia prior to the 2023 governorship election, ‘Weep no more, help is on the way.”
The chairman of the organization noted that by the grace of God, the help to move the state forward and realise the potential for the greatness of the state had arrived in the person of the governor-elect.
Obioma, who was the director general of the organization said the occasion would be marked by the formal swearing in of Otti and his deputy governor-elect, Ikechukwu Emetu and a luncheon later with two of them.
“As you may have read in one of our publications, some Nigeria’s best and globally acknowledged stars in music and comedy have been lined up to perform in the events of the inauguration.
“Topping the headlines in music is international award-winning singer, David Adeleke (Davido), while our son of the soil, Bright Okpocha (Basketmouth) will lead the front of comedy artist as host of the event,” Obioma said.
The chairman added that other celebrated singers are Mr Raw, Ruff Coin, and Rugged Man while Nedu Wazobia, Diamond Okechi, and Funny Bone make up the comedy cadre.
According to Obioma, who said they expect the occasion to draw global attention, the venues, Umuahia Township Stadium and the Ochendo International Conference Centre have been renovated at Otti’s expense.
