Fresh Details Emerge from Wike-Led PDP NEC Meeting

Fresh details have emerged from the latest National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), held under the influence of the faction aligned with Nyesom Wike, as party leaders push for internal reforms ahead of key decisions.

At the 107th NEC meeting, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mao Ohuabunwa, threw his weight behind the ongoing electronic registration of members, describing it as a critical move to reposition the party.

He said the initiative signals a clear shift towards modernization and accountability in the party’s internal structure.

Ohuabunwa noted that building a credible and verifiable membership database remains central to the survival and growth of any political party.

According to him, the e-registration process will not only improve transparency but also strengthen internal democracy and boost confidence among party faithful.

He urged members across the country to fully participate in the exercise, stressing that the success of the process depends on collective commitment. The PDP chieftain maintained that accurate data would enhance planning, coordination, and effective decision-making within the party.

Speaking further, he reminded party stakeholders of the importance of unity as the party prepares for its forthcoming National Convention.

“As we move forward, the decisions we take today will shape not only the outcome of our forthcoming National Convention but also the future direction of our party,” he said.

He added, “It is therefore important that we approach all matters before us with unity of purpose and a spirit of give and take.”

On the contentious issue of zoning, Ohuabunwa disclosed that recommendations from the party’s Zoning Committee would soon be presented before the NEC.

He called on members to approach the outcome with understanding and openness, noting that no arrangement can perfectly satisfy everyone.

The BoT chairman emphasized that equity, justice, and unity must guide the party’s decisions, especially at a time when internal cohesion is crucial.

He stressed that the willingness of members to accommodate one another would determine the strength and stability of the PDP moving forward.
