Ohanaeze Ndigbo hails Tinubu over reopening of Enugu-Onitsha Expressway

The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has commended the reopening of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway by the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, by Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Chinyeze Ohia, Ohanaeze’s deputy president and national spokesperson, the group said Tinubu ended decades of unfulfilled electoral promises by the past administrations.
Expressing the group’s appreciation, the duo said the reopening of the Expressway is timely and commendable.
According to Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the vital thoroughfare had been plagued by fatal accidents, debilitating gridlock, and substantial economic detriment.
The socio-political group noted that the expressway has undergone a remarkable transformation under the stewardship of President Tinubu.
“For over twenty-four years, the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway represented not only a logistical nightmare but also a perilous deathtrap for Ndigbo. Today, it emerges as the “Best Easter Gift Ever to Ndigbo by President Tinubu”.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo wholeheartedly recalls the earnest lamentations of our people, whose impassioned pleas to previous administrations – namely those of former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Goodluck Jonathan, and the late Muhammadu Buhari—were met with conspicuous silence and neglect,” Ohanaeze said.
The group also noted that the systematic dismissal of the needs of Ndigbo by previous governments is a striking testament to the long-standing challenges we have faced.
“President Tinubu is not merely rewriting the narrative of the Igbo; he is fostering an infrastructural revolution within the Southeast. The newly revitalised dual carriageway, stretching 107 kilometres on each side, stands as a legacy project that possesses the potential to irrevocably alter the political landscape, significantly influencing voting patterns that may favour President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
“As the nation and Ndigbo extend accolades to President Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Nweze Umahi for this monumental achievement, Ohanaeze Ndigbo seizes this opportunity to express an attentive and heartfelt request to President Tinubu: we urge him to allocate additional funds for the expedited completion of all ongoing Federal Road Projects in the Southeast,” it stated.
Listing other roads in dire need of attention, Ohanaeze Ndigbo said fixing these axis a necessity that far outweighs any political overtures from opposition coalitions.
