2027: “I’ll Help Peter Obi Get Labour Party Ticket if ADC Fails” — Yusuf Datti

Former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has said he is ready to support Peter Obi’s return to the party ahead of the 2027 elections if his reported move to secure the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket does not work out.

Datti made this known during an interview on Trust TV. He spoke on the growing political realignments ahead of 2027 and Obi’s possible next move.

He openly appealed to the former Anambra State governor to reconsider the Labour Party if he fails to clinch the ADC presidential ticket.

“I have much respect for Peter Obi. If he doesn’t get the ADC ticket, he should come back to the Labour Party please,” he said.

Datti went further to assure that he would personally take responsibility for rebuilding any broken ties within the party.

He said he is willing to engage party stakeholders and resolve internal differences that may stand in Obi’s way.

“I will work for him and try to get him the ticket in the Labour Party. I will try and mend the ways between him and whoever he may have offended,” he added.

Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed ran on the Labour Party platform in the 2023 presidential election, where they emerged third but recorded a significant performance that disrupted the traditional two-party dominance in Nigeria.
