North-Central APC adopts Tinubu as sole presidential candidate for 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-Central zone has adopted President Bola Tinubu as its sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The resolution was reached on Wednesday at the APC North-Central zonal congress held at the Aliyu Akwe Doma banquet hall in Government House, Lafia, Nasarawa state.

The congress also produced new zonal executives through a consensus process affirmed by voice vote and acclamation.

Governors, senators, former ministers and party stakeholders from across the zone attended the congress and declared their support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), moved the motion for the adoption of Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 election.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state and chairman of the North-Central Governors Forum, seconded the motion.

Governor Sule said: “If there is anybody who should support this motion, it should be the governors. As a result of President Tinubu’s reforms, some of us have been able to carry out our work without borrowing a penny from the bank.”

“For that reason, I second the motion for the North Central Zone to adopt President Bola Tinubu as our sole candidate.”

Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, APC national chairman, in a message delivered by Abdulkarim Kana, deputy national secretary of the party, congratulated the newly elected zonal executives.

Yilwatda also invited delegates and party stakeholders to the APC national convention scheduled for March 27 and March 28, 2026, at Eagle Square in Abuja.

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, former APC national chairman and former governor of Nasarawa state, said the party had remained faithful to its constitution in conducting the congress.

Party leaders, governors, former governors, senators, ministers and grassroots delegates from Benue, Kogi, Niger, Nasarawa, Plateau and Kwara states as well as the Federal Capital Territory attended the congress.
