INEC Recognises Wike-Backed Abdulrahman, Anyanwu as PDP Chairman, Secretary

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially listed new leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on its website, signalling a major development in the party’s ongoing leadership crisis.

Politics Nigeria reports that the electoral body updated its portal with the names of members of the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC), including Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary.

The update has drawn attention across the political space, especially as it comes shortly after a disputed national convention in Abuja.

Abdulrahman and Anyanwu emerged from the convention held late on Sunday in the Federal Capital Territory.

The exercise, however, has been surrounded by controversy. Rival camps within the PDP have raised objections, each claiming legitimacy over the process and its outcome.

Despite the disagreements, INEC went ahead to reflect the names of the newly elected officials on its official platform.
