The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and his deputy, Senator Barau Jibrin, have led a delegation of senators on a Sallah homage visit to the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, at his residence in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the visit comes shortly after Akpabio extended his warm greetings to Nigerians on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations while also urging support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In a statement, Akpabio emphasised the significance of the season, highlighting the importance of submission to the will of God and the value of sacrifice in our daily lives.
Speaking during the visit, the Senate President expressed his admiration for the progress made by President Tinubu since assuming office on May 29.
Accompanying Akpabio and Jibrin were Senators Dave Umahi, Ali Ndume, and Opeyemi Bamidele.
Acknowledging the spirit of love that characterises the Sallah festivities, Akpabio emphasised the Islamic teaching of exchanging love and extending goodwill to others.
Furthermore, he commended the APC National Chairman for his integrity and instrumental role in the successful zoning arrangements within the National Assembly.
“We are here to pay Sallah homage to a man of honour. We show respect where it is due. We express our gratitude to the party leadership and the National Working Committee (NWC) through you for your contribution to the success of the National Assembly leadership elections. We also thank Almighty Allah for your good health and pray for your continued contributions to the development of our nation,” Akpabio expressed.
Reiterating his commitment to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the Senate President stated that the 10th National Assembly would enact legislation that aligns with the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda, aiming to foster national peace, unity, and development.
Meanwhile, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on members of the National Assembly to collaborate with the executive arm of government for the benefit of the Nigerian people.
During the Sallah homage visit, the party’s national chairman, Senator Abdulahi Adamu, congratulated the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and his deputy on their respective positions. Adamu emphasised the need for effective collaboration between the Legislature and the Executive in the interest of the nation.
“The contests for offices are over, and now it is time for governance. Nigerians expect a lot from you, and that can only be achieved through a united legislature and executive, working together in a bipartisan manner. As the President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly, you possess the knowledge, experience, and the ability to ensure that both arms of government work harmoniously for the peace and development of our country,” stated Adamu.
There are indications that the delegation to the party Chairman’s residence involves senators recommended to take up the principal offices in the Senate.
