An aide to President Muhammadu Buhari has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.
Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, made this known during a press briefing on COVID-19 on Thursday in Abuja.
The minister added that the aide was already undergoing treatment in an isolation center in the country.
On Tuesday, the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, had tested positive to COVID-19 while President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo tested negative.
This news medium also reports that the Nigerian Government finally reacted to reports that President Buhari and Abba Kyari were secretly flown out of the country for medical treatment.
On Thursday, an audiotape shared online by Journalist, Jackson Ude, generated an air of uncertainty on the President’s location.
The audiotape was a conversation between two individuals who claim to be highly placed, alleging that Buhari and Kyari were secretly flown out of the country.
One of the conversants, a lady said the following, “You wouldn’t believe Buhari and Abba Kyari sneaked out of this country last night. Last night, this one is first-hand information.”
The person in the recording claimed that her friend’s husband is an Airforce Pilot and was called for the trip, but could not make it. However, he had to do the flight plan for the President and Kyari, while they got another pilot.
However, When this newspaper reached out to Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, via Text message, he simply replied that the report was ‘Fake News’.
“Its Fake news, Thanks.” He replied.
