JUST IN: Tribunal Admits Shettima’s Resignation Letter as Evidence in Defence of Obi’s Petition

The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) has admitted a Certified True Copy (CTC) of Kashim Shettima’s voluntary resignation letter as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Borno Central senatorial district.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the letter, dated July 6, 2022, was presented along with other documents by Wole Olanipekun (SAN), the legal representative of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, during the commencement of their defense in the petition filed by Peter Obi and the Labour Party (LP).

The petitioners have raised concerns regarding the eligibility of the joint ticket of Tinubu and Shettima, asserting that Shettima had received dual nominations.

The submitted resignation letter is aimed at providing evidence that Vice President Shettima voluntarily resigned from his senatorial candidacy before being selected as the vice presidential candidate of the APC.
