Former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has opened up on why he joined the immediate past governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state to support President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections.
Politics Nigeria Reports that the trio of Wike, Makinde and Fayose are members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate.
Tinubu, on the other hand, contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing journalists after a meeting with the president at the Villa on Thursday, Fayose disclosed that they supported Tinubu due to his vision for Nigeria.
“I came to share moments with the President and Commander-in-Chief, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Fayose announced.
“I’m happy to be here, one to congratulate the good people of Nigeria on the fact that this is a new beginning, a renewed hope.”
Fayose stressed that Tinubu has all it takes to make Nigeria the envy of many adding that all hands must be on deck for the country to achieve greatness.
“You will see him very alert and very clearly in the direction he wants to take the country, but he can’t do it alone, he needs all of us.
“Whosoever is in this saddle is Nigeria on the saddle [sic] and we must stand by him. We must give our best and I want to tell you that people like me, others like Wike, Governor Makinde and other wonderful Nigerians, we have made up our minds that it is better to stand with a man of vision and to stand with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the betterment of our country. That is why I’m here,” he added.
This is just a mere template that will be used tomorrow by many on you, and dont refute it when the time comes. We shall leave to see. I stand by ATIKU/OKOWA.
