The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers has called on President Bola Tinubu not to allow persons it described as being meddlesome to help former Governor Nyisom Wike to hijack the party in the state.
The APC in Rivers expressed its fear that recognising Wike would work against the party as it would undermine the loyalty of staunch members.
The Rivers APC publicity secretary, Comrade Darlington Nwauju, in an open letter to Tinubu, called on the president to reject Wike and warned that he should beware of him and his allies, also alleging that the ex-governor aims at controlling the party’s structures in the state.
In the letter, the leadership of Rivers APC alleged that Wike had been brutal to the party and its members in the past.
The letter read in part: “We wish to clear the air that Gov Wike did not deliver any value to our dear Rivers State APC.
“Mr President Sir, we wish to recall that the 2015 presidential election melted unquantifiable brutality on members and families of APC in Rivers State with countless casualties.
Yet the Rivers APC resisted the onslaught of former Governor Wike’s lead aggression on innocent party followers and members.
“Dear Mr President, we wish to clear the air that Gov Wike did not deliver any value to our dear Rivers State APC; rather, he fought against our dear Rivers APC.”
