NNPP ‘Dead’ in Kano After Kwankwaso’s Defection — Kwankwasiyya Movement

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has declared that the exit of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from the New Nigeria Peoples Party signals the collapse of the party in Kano and possibly across the country.

The movement’s spokesperson, Habibu Mohammed, made this known on Tuesday during an interview on Arise Television while reacting to Kwankwaso’s recent defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to him, the NNPP’s identity has been largely tied to Kwankwaso, and his departure effectively strips the party of its influence, particularly in Kano State.

He noted that just as Kwankwaso defined the NNPP’s strength in Kano, he is now expected to become the dominant force for the ADC in the state, describing the development as one that will reshape the political landscape.

Mohammed added that Kwankwaso’s reputation for consistency, principled leadership, and straightforwardness continues to attract strong loyalty, predicting a significant wave of defections into the ADC.

He further explained that many politicians are willing to align with Kwankwaso, not necessarily because they share identical views, but because they trust his leadership, direction, and ability to protect and mobilise his supporters effectively.

He concluded that the unfolding developments in Kano politics would create an intense and dynamic political contest in the coming months.
