BREAKING: NECO Releases Common Entrance Results [DETAILS]

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of its 2023 National Common Entrance Examinations (NCEE).

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that a total of 72,865 pupils registered for the exam, an increase from the 71,738 who registered in 2022.

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Andrew Adejo, made the announcement in Abuja on Wednesday. He said that the results are available on the NECO website.

Lagos State had the highest number of registrants, with 18,644, while Taraba had the lowest, with 102.

There were 69,829 pupils who sat for the exam, while 3,036 were absent. The highest score was 203, which was achieved by 76 pupils. The lowest score was 1, which was scored by 6 pupils.

Adejo said that the results show that the council is making progress in bridging the gender gap in education. He said that there were 38,801 female registrants for the NCEE, compared to 34,064 male registrants.

Adejo said, “A total of (72,865) pupils registered compared to 71,738 for 2022 with Lagos State having the highest number of 18,644 and Taraba with the lowest of 102. With 38,801 female registrants against 34,064 males, we are making progress with bridging the gender parity; Sixty nine thousand, eight hundred and twenty nine (69,829) pupils sat for the examination;

“3,036 pupils were absent; 76 pupils had the highest score of 203; The lowest score was 01 mark and this was scored by six pupils.”
