Like every other fake news spreading amidst the Coronavirus menace, POLITICS NIGERIA can authoritatively state that the Federal Government is not planning to disburse N30,000 to Nigerians.
A top newspaper reported that the Federal Government announced to give out N30,000 to Nigerians who have a verified Biometric Verification Number (BVN) account.
The newspaper quoted the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina to have said: “the N30000 relief fund will be given to every Nigerian with verified BVN account”.
“I am sure the fund will go a long way to help Nigerians stock up their home during the stay at home order by the Government.”
“We have tabled about 40 Millions Nigerians with valid BVN, the relief fund will be disbursed by the Ministry of Finance starting from today or latest tomorrow. Nigerian will start receiving credit alerts to their bank account”.
“The relief fund will only be given through BVN so it will be a waste of time to start rushing to open many accounts. In the gesture, the central bank of Nigeria has tabled about N10b credit funds to small businesses and individual for quick loan during the trial period, Nigerians advised getting more information on how to access the loan”, the newspaper reported.
Fake news:
Following the report that is fast spreading online, Mr Adesina took to Twitter to debunk the relief report.
He wrote; “Fake news peddlers have concocted a statement, purportedly issued by me, saying FG will pay N30,000 to each Nigerian with BVN, to help them stock up before an impending national lockdown. Not me. The so-called statement is hereby disclaimed”.
Nigeria is in a partial lockdown with Lagos State and Abuja badly affected as cases of coronavirus hit 81.
While one death has been recorded, three has been discharged.
So you mean that you people are not making similar provision for us.
God help us and open our leaders eyes to take action for people not to suffer during this coming locked down
they are only there to share money and not to do what they are voted for.
