Tinubu, Shettima, Akpabio, Govs Meet on Economy, Subsidy Palliatives

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima have met with the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and some governors to continue consultation on how to jump-start the economy.

The governors who attended the meeting at the presidential Villa on Wednesday were Hope Uzodinma (Imo), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun).

Former governor of Kano state, Umar Ganduje, who is tipped to emerge as the new APC national chairman also attended the meeting.

The special adviser to the president on special duties, communication and strategy, Dele Alake, explained that the meeting also looked at how to finalize arrangements for the distribution of palliatives to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians.

The presidency had earlier proposed the distribution of grains and fertilizers to farmers also as part of measures to boost food security in the country.
