Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Rome to represent President Bola Tinubu at the United Nations Food Systems Summit.
The summit will be held from Monday, July 24, to Wednesday, July 26.
Shettima will be in Rome on an official assignment for the first time since he became Nigeria’s number two citizen.
Shettima was received at Leonardo Da Vinci Airport at 7:45 p.m., Italian time, by some Nigerian diplomats, according to the Director of Information, Office of the Vice President, Olusola Abiola.
Those who received the vice president at the airport include Nigeria’s Ambassador to Italy, Mfawa Omini Abam, the Head of the Consular Department of the Nigerian Embassy in Italy, Ugochukwu Onuzulike, and the President of the Nigerian Community in Rome, Chima Ibezim.
Politics Nigeria reported that Shettima departed to represent Tinubu at two major international summits in Rome, Italy, and St Petersburg, Russia.
At the Rome event, Shettima is expected to join other global leaders for the first Stocktaking Moment Summit titled “Transforming Food Systems for People, Planet and Prosperity,” scheduled to hold from Monday, July 24 to Wednesday, 26.
He will also chair a high-level session themed “Innovative Financing for Food System Transformation: the Case of Nigeria” and the side event on” Scaling up Multi Stakeholders Collaboration and Investment in Implementing Food Systems Transformation Pathways in Nigeria.
