“We are 100% behind you” – Community leaders tell Alex Otti ahead of 2027 polls

Leaders of Abiriba community in Abia State have declared support for Governor Alex Otti ahead of the 2027 general election.
The delegation of stakeholders visited the governor on Sunday at his office to reaffirm their support for his administration and pledge mobilisation for his re-election.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Jackson Agbai Abba commended the governor for what he described as his achievements in infrastructure development across the state.
Abba said the Abiriba community remains united in its support for Otti despite recent political movements by one of its sons.
His words: “Abiriba people are 100% behind you. We are mobilising in all aspects — voters’ registration in Abiriba, Aba, Umuahia, Port Harcourt and Enugu, online party membership registration across the globe.
“We are going from compound to compound, house-to-house, churches and markets for sensitisation and enlightenment campaigns, including every legitimate effort to ensure that your victory is guaranteed.”
Abba also appreciated the completion of the Abiriba ring road project from the roundabout to Oba Amogudu.
He appealed to the governor to extend the asphalting of roads previously constructed through the community’s self-help initiative.
Also speaking, Eleanya Ojuu Kalu, chairman of Ohafia LGA, said more than 5,000 new voters had been registered in Abiriba through grassroots mobilisation.
Kalu said the mobilisation covered farm settlements, markets, schools and urban centres including Aba and Umuahia.
James Agbagha Ochunkwo, another community leader, described the visit as a demonstration of political unity between the community and the governor.
Responding, Otti thanked the delegation for the show of solidarity, describing the visit as a meaningful Easter gesture and acknowledged the contributions of Abiriba people to the socio-economic development of the state.
Otti said individuals are free to pursue political ambitions but noted that such decisions do not affect the relationship between his administration and the community.
The governor also urged residents to participate actively in the ongoing continuous voters’ registration exercise.
Otti encouraged eligible voters, particularly those outside the state, to return home during elections to exercise their civic responsibilities.
Among those present at the meeting was Nwaka Inem, special adviser to the governor on trade and commerce.
