LIST: 16 States Yet to Name Cabinet Ahead of July 28 Deadline

According to the Nigerian constitution signed into law by former President Muhammadu Buhari, a newly-elected president, and governors are required by law to appoint ministers and commissioners not later than 60 days from the day they are sworn into offices.

Like President Bola Tinubu, some Nigerian governors have only until July 28 to send the list of members of their cabinets to the state house of assemblies.

Governors who are on the safe side, having sent the said lists to the various state legislatures are Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Delta, Jigawa, Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, Rivers, Oyo, and Taraba.

However, states whose governors who are yet to do the needful are listed below:

  1. Sokoto
  2. Enugu
  3. Cross River
  4. Plateau
  5. Niger
  6. Lagos
  7. Ogun
  8. Kwara
  9. Borno
  10. Adamawa
  11. Nasarawa
  12. Kebbi
  13. Benue
  14. Zamfara
  15. Yobe
  16. Gombe

Meanwhile, there are emerging reports that President Tinubu on Thursday, July 27, sent the ministerial list to the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
