COVID-19: Lagos Govt Confirms 13 New Cases, Gives Update On Pandemic

As the coronavirus pandemic spread all over the country, thirteen new cases of the disease have been confirmed by the Lagos State Government on Tuesday.

State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, made the confirmation on his Twitter handle on Tuesday.

According to Abayomi, eight patients have so far recovered from the diseases in the State.

He wrote: “#COVID19Lagos Updates: Lagos confirms 13 new cases of #COVID19 30th March, 2020. With the13 new cases, Lagos now has 81 reported cases of #COVID19. However, 8 of the 81 patients have fully recovered and have been discharged. Please #StayHome #StaySafe #ForAGreaterLagos”.

Also, the Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, also announced that the state government has discharged five formerly positive #COVID19 patients from its Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba.

He said: “I am excited to announce some positive news ahead of our lockdown. We have just discharged 5 formerly positive #COVID19 patients from our Infectious Disease Hospital after treatment and multiple testing by our specialists. Congratulations to the healthcare team and the patients.”

The governor added: “The preservation of life is very important and this lockdown will help us trace and stop the spread of #COVID19. We have increased capacity at all levels and I want to assure Lagosians that no matter what happens in the days ahead we can beat this. Please #StayHomeSaveLives”

This news medium had reported that the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday night confirmed 20 new cases.
