Wike-Backed PDP Reacts to Turaki Faction’s Meeting with ADC

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Nyesom Wike has called on party members to dismiss reports of a meeting between the Taminu Turaki-led group and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, clarified that the PDP did not authorise the meeting.

He emphasised that the party has neither held formal nor informal talks with the ADC or its representatives.

According to Mohammed, individuals who attended the meeting did so in their personal capacities and should not be seen as representing the PDP.

He urged both party members and the public to disregard any claims suggesting otherwise, describing them as unfounded and not reflective of the party’s official position.

Mohammed further noted that preparations for the PDP’s primaries are ongoing, assuring that relevant timelines and guidelines will be announced in due course.

“The party remains focused on its internal processes and its commitment to credible leadership for Nigerians,” he said.

Meanwhile, earlier on Wednesday, the Turaki-led faction paid a visit to the ADC faction led by David Mark, describing it as a show of solidarity ahead of the 2027 elections.

The meeting, which lasted about two hours, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm centered on national issues and potential inter-party collaboration.

Notable figures in attendance included former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana; former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu; members of the PDP National Working Committee; and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

Also present were former governors Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Aminu Tambuwal, and Rotimi Amaechi.

Other participants included ADC National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola; former Attorney-General, Abubakar Malami; and several other senior political figures.
