A ministerial nominee from Delta State, Hon. Stella Okotete, who is yet to be confirmed by the Senate, has reacted to an allegation that she maligned Festus Keyamo (SAN) in an online video.
Okotete denied the claim and described it as a lie from the pit of hell.
A viral video was circulated online by a group called; “Niger Delta Youth Coalition”, in which a lady was seen speaking harshly, insinuating that Okotete’s nomination was substituted with that of Keyamo.
In straightforward terms, Okotete denied knowledge of any comment that maligned Keyamo, condemned the group’s activities and disassociated herself entirely from what she described as an “uncouth derogatory and unpalatable” remark against the minister in waiting.
She said:
“I have a robust and healthy relationship with Chief Festus Keyamo SAN as a big brother. At no time did I suspect that he is behind the temporary setback I encountered at the Senate.
“The derogatory remark against Keyamo is at best a product of the imagination of the group and its sponsors.”
Okotete warned the group to retract the offensive comments in the viral video and apologize to Keyamo to avoid creating bad blood between them.
In her view, freedom of speech and expression must be exercised in a civilized manner that will not tarnish the character of anyone.
