Kaduna state governor, Senator Uba Sani, has reacted to reports that he rejected his predecessor, Nasir El-rufai’s ministerial nomination.
Politics Nigeria recalls that El-Rufai’s nomination was stepped down during his ministerial screening at the senate following an incomplete security check.
A few days after, the immediate past Kaduna governor rejected the offer but nominated a replacement.
However, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, spokesman for Governor Uba, dismissed the reports linking his principal to the unfortunate turn of event as inaccurate and plan by mischief makers to create unnecessary tension between him and El-Rufai.
He stressed that the accurate aspect of the story was his meeting with the president, adding that at no point during the meeting did the issue of a replacement nominee come up for discussion.
He, therefore, called on media outlets, social media users and blogging platforms to refrain from spreading unverified and false information that could mislead readers and contribute to political tension in the country.
The governor also urged newsmen to recognise their role as the fourth estate of the realm and maintain integrity by sharing verified and balanced stories that contributed positively to the nation’s progress.
