The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has dismissed reports making the round of an upward review of petrol pump prices nationwide.
The company’s reaction comes amid speculations of another increase in the price of petrol amid the widespread hardship currently being experienced in most parts of the country.
In a statement on Monday, the NNPCL advised Nigerians to buy quality and affordable petrol from its retail outlets across the country.
“Dear esteemed customers, we at NNPC Retail value your patronage and do not intend to increase our PMS pump prices as widely speculated. Please buy the best quality products at the most affordable prices at our NNPC Retail Stations nationwide”, it said.
Recall that the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria had said that if the the naira continues to depreciate in the foreign exchange market, an increment of fuel prices would be imminent.
Last month, fuel marketers hiked fuel pump prices to over N617 per litre of petrol.
