Prominent members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, family members, and friends gathered at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja on Friday to bury 22 military personnel who died in combat in Niger State.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the deceased officers were killed in an ambush by armed bandits on August 14. The attack also left seven soldiers wounded.
The funeral began with the arrival of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, around 9:46 am. Also in attendance were the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa, and other service chiefs.
