The spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 presidential election, Daniel Bwala, has labeled the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as a glorified commissioner.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Bwala made these remarks in response to Wike’s recent criticism of the PDP during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
He stated, “Wike’s primary objective as the FCT Minister is to intimidate the opposition. Bwala commented, “His core aim in occupying the FCT position is to intimidate and exert dominance over his opponents. You will witness this in the coming days, using principles reminiscent of Machiavellian tactics.
“We are moving towards a one-party system in Nigeria. Most of the issues seen in some African countries stem from leaders attempting to transform their states into de facto one-party states.
“People may inflate his (Wike’s) importance to make him believe he is the governor of the FCT. According to the constitution, a Minister of the FCT is essentially a glorified commissioner. This is why if the FCT were a state, it would possess the characteristics, functionalities, and capacity of a regular state.”
Bwala further commented that the PDP would expel Wike when the time is right.
He added, “We seldom respond to him because he thrives on drama, as everyone is aware. The party is fully aware of its actions. When the appropriate moment arrives, he will not only face suspension but expulsion. You can take that to the bank.”
