Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers has warned that any traditional ruler found to be supporting cultism in his domain to threaten the peace in the state will be suspended indefinitely from office.
The governor gave the warning during the inauguration of Mgbuodohia Internal Roads in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Monday, September 11.
Fubara spoke specifically on the need for all and sundry to work together for the sustenance of peace in all parts of the state.
He said his administration cannot be fighting to put under check every threat to life and property of residents in Rivers, while some traditional rulers are aiding cultists and cultism.
Fubara warned that he will not hesitate to visit such a traditional ruler with the same treatment meted out to the suspended Eze Igbu Akoh ll, His Royal Majesty, Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
He said:
“Everybody needs to come together, work together to sustain peace and respect for this State. I need to say this, any traditional ruler, be it from my place or elsewhere, who is supporting cultism that is beginning to be a problem in our State, I assure you, as I have started with the traditional stool in Ahoada East Local government, I will come after you.”
