BREAKING: Tribunal sacks another Labour Party House of Rep member in Enugu

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Enugu has sacked the House of Representatives member representing Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency Barr. Sunday Umeha of the Labour Party (LP).

The panel led by Justice A.M Abubakar declared Dr Festus Uzor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the February 25 election.

Justice Abubakar, while ruling on the petition by Dr. Uzor, averred that Umeha didn’t properly resign from the PDP before seeking the ticket of the Labour Party.

The panel also held that the purported resignation letter by Barr. Umeha was signed by someone who’s no longer a leader of the PDP.

Justice Abubakar, after that, directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, to issue a certificate of return to Dr. Uzor.

The ruling comes two days after the tribunal sitting sacked Chijioke Okereke of the LP as the House of Representatives member for Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency.

A 3-man panel, led by Justice Nusirat I. Umar, declared Chief Anayo Onwuegbu of the PDP as the duly elected candidate in the poll.

Earlier today, the LP national chairman, Julius Abure, queried the various tribunal rulings nationwide that have sacked dozens of the party’s lawmakers.
