Okey Ahiwe, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 Imo State Elections, has reacted to his defeat at the tribunal.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia on Friday confirmed Alex Otti as the Governor of Abia State and affirmed his victory in the March 18, 2023 elections.
Reacting via his media adviser, Victor Nwokocha, Ahiwe expressed heartfelt gratitude to his dedicated supporters, legal team, family, friends, and associates for their unwavering support during this challenging period.
He reassured his supporters, legal team, and family that there is no need for panic, asserting that truth and justice will ultimately prevail. His confidence in the Judiciary remains steadfast.
The PDP candidate for the March 18 election announced that his legal team will conduct a thorough examination of the tribunal’s judgment and provide guidance on the next steps.
“Chief Ahiwe called on his teeming supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that, following due consultations with his legal team and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leadership, he would keep them informed on the direction to take”, the statement said.
