Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate removal of the notorious “scavengers colony” located in Mabushi, Abuja.
Speaking during a visit to the area on Tuesday, Wike described it as a threat to the security of Nigeria’s capital city.
The Minister further directed the immediate commencement of road projects along the area.
“I have directed the immediate removal of the Scavengers’ Colony along the road corridor across Mabushi, Jahi and Kado Districts, in Mabushi District,” Wike said.
It is not only a sanitation hazard but also a threat to our collective security in the FCT.
In addition to its clearing the FCDA has also been directed to immediately scope and commence construction of the road and infrastructure planned for that area,” he added.
