The Labour Party has slammed the Bola Tinubu-led administration for its handling of the economy, saying that the recent report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on soaring food prices is a stark reflection of its failure.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the party gave the reaction in a telephone interview with Vanguard on Monday through its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh.
He said that the NBS report, which pegged the national inflation rate of food prices and other items at 26.72 per cent, is simply a reflection of how badly the Tinubu administration has failed since taking over power on May 29, 2023.
“The truth is, you can’t give what you don’t have,” Ifoh said.
In recent years, Nigeria has witnessed a steady increase in food prices, and this situation has worsened with the removal of petrol subsidy.
Recall that during his inauguration on May 29, President Bola Tinubu announced the removal of the subsidy on petrol. This decision has led to hardships for many Nigerians, resulting in higher prices for various goods and services.
