Governor Babajide Sanwoolu, on Wednesday, led the groundbreaking ceremony for the $100 million Lagos Film City.
The project is set to occupy a sprawling 100-hectare land area in the Ikosi-Ejinrin region of Epe Local Government.
Based on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, the initiative marks a pivotal moment in Lagos state’s quest to bolster its film and entertainment industry.
According to the state government, the Lagos Film City is expected to generate many job opportunities, spur economic growth, and attract substantial investment.
”It is envisioned as a comprehensive hub for various facets of film production, including visual effects, scripting, cinematography, editing, photography, and all the supporting services vital to the filmmaking process.
”This landmark project has been forged through collaborations with key players in the entertainment sector, including Ebonylife Academy, Delyork, and Ogidi Studios.
”The cooperation of these industry leaders underscores the collective commitment to harnessing the immense potential of Lagos State’s burgeoning film and entertainment industry,” the statement noted.
The film city is also expected to be a one-stop destination for a thriving film, entertainment, and production ecosystem through its state-of-the-art sound stages, cutting-edge post-production facilities, meticulously crafted movie sets, educational institutions, and a contemporary theme park.
