Ondo Assembly Issues Fresh Conditions to Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa for Suspension of Impeachment

The Ondo State House of Assembly has issued fresh conditions to the embattled deputy governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to suspend the impeachment process against him.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the assembly is open to the intervention of APC National leaders for a political solution but wants Aiyedatiwa to withdraw the multiple court cases he has filed over the impeachment.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the assembly’s spokesperson, Hon. Olatunji Oshati Emmanuel.

Oshati said that the assembly agreed to consider a political solution following the intervention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje.

He, however, noted that the assembly was only exercising its responsibility under Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution, having received a petition accusing the deputy governor of some allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.

He expressed the desire of the House leadership to further consult with members of the House, cutting across party lines on the political solution as proposed by the APC.

Oshati hoped that in the same spirit of genuine wish for a political solution, the deputy governor would take immediate steps to withdraw the multiple court cases he filed over the same impeachment.

This, he said, would allow stakeholders to freely discuss the settlement proposals and prevent actions or comments over a matter that is still subjudice.
