BREAKING: Appeal Court Affirms Election of Peter Mbah as Enugu Governor

The Court of Appeal has affirmed Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State as the legitimate winner of the Enugu State Gubernatorial election.

The court affirmed the judgment of the Enugu Tribunal delivered on September 9 by the Hon. Justice K.M. Akano led tribunal.

The judgement was delivered by a three-man panel of the Appeal Court in a case filed by Barr Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party, LP. The three issues which were subject of the appeal went in favour of Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

On the allegation of over-voting, Justice Hassan, who read the lead judgment, held that the voters’ register was never placed before the lower tribunal, and that the failure to tender it rendered the appeal inadmissible.

The court also held that the testimony of all the witnesses called by Edeoga did not prove that there was over-voting in the election.

On the allegation of forgery, the court held that the NYSC discharge certificate presented by Mbah was valid, and that there was no evidence to suggest that he forged it.
