Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has expressed grave concern over the recently concluded off-cycle governorship elections in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa states.
Frank’s statement, issued in Abuja, raised serious allegations of electoral fraud and manipulation in the mentioned states, particularly in Imo and Kogi.
He emphasised that the incidents pointed towards a bleak future for fair and credible elections in 2027, especially under Tinubu’s leadership.
He criticised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), labelling it as “compromised,” accusing it of manipulating results through various electoral systems.
Frank further alleged the involvement of the judiciary and security agencies, painting a grim picture of a compromised electoral process.
According to Frank, the level of rigging witnessed in the mentioned states was no surprise, given what he described as Tinubu’s ascension to power through alleged rigging and judicial validation.
Expressing dismay over Nigeria’s democratic regression, Frank emphasised the urgent need for Nigerians to safeguard the integrity of the electoral system.
He highlighted the appointments of APC members as Resident Electoral Commissioners within INEC and cautioned against a potential drift towards a one-party state.
Frank lamented the compromised stance of opposition governors and accused them of neglecting their role as opposition leaders due to harassment and blackmail.
“We have commenced mobilising Nigerians, especially in diaspora, to save the country from the hands of election riggers and make sure our democracy stands.
“If we don’t stop Tinubu and APC, they will turn Nigeria into a one-party state like Cameroon, Zimbabwe and Uganda,” he added.
