Governor Hope Uzodimma has officially received his certificate of return in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, following his landslide victory in the recent governorship election.
Addressing the public, Governor Uzodimma commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for overseeing what he hailed as the freest, fairest, and most peaceful election in the history of Imo State.
The declaration of Uzodimma’s re-election came after an extensive collation process, where he emerged victorious in all 27 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate secured a staggering 540,308 votes, eclipsing his closest rivals, Samuel Anyanwu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with 71,503 votes and Nneji Achonu of the Labour Party (LP) with 64,081 votes.
On his part, INEC National Commissioner in charge of South East, Kenneth Ukeagu, urged the Governor to be magnanimous with victory and use the renewed mandate for the betterment of the Imo people.
