“A national statesman” – Tinubu hails Amaechi on 60th birthday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, on his 60th birthday, describing him as a national statesman with a distinguished legacy of service.

In a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Amaechi’s long-standing contributions to public service and his pivotal role in national politics.

“President Tinubu highlights Amaechi’s invaluable contributions to Rivers State as a former Speaker of the House of Assembly and two-term governor, saying he dedicatedly served the state,” the statement read.

Tinubu also recalled Amaechi’s emergence as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum during his tenure as governor, a position that marked his influence on the national stage.

The President commended Amaechi’s eight years of service as Minister of Transportation under former President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that his efforts helped shape Nigeria’s infrastructure landscape.

“As he turns 60, President Tinubu prays for more years and God’s grace for the former minister, and wishes him continued success in his political career,” the statement concluded.

Amaechi, an Ikwerre-born lawyer, turned 60 on May 27, 2025.
