Activist slams Femi Falana for silence over VeryDarkMan’s arrest

Activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has taken a swipe at Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, over his silence on the arrest and continued detention of social media critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.

In a post on X, Adeyanju expressed disappointment that Falana — widely regarded for his human rights advocacy — has yet to publicly condemn the arrest despite growing outrage across the country.

“Our revered leader and mentor, Femi Falana SAN yet to condemn the arrest of VDM. Interesting times indeed!” Adeyanju wrote.

VeryDarkMan’s arrest has triggered reactions from celebrities, influencers, and activists who have called for his immediate release.

The protests have also spilled onto the streets of Abuja, where some of his supporters staged demonstrations.

Adeyanju, recalling events from the Muhammadu Buhari administration, said he had once defended someone who had incited an attack against him — just to uphold the principle of free expression.

“When the boy that led people to attack me under Buhari became a victim under the same Buhari and was arrested, I was the first person to condemn it,” he said.
