Adeyanju Reacts to Lawmaker’s Assault on Bolt Driver

In a recent legal move, lawyer Deji Adeyanju has called on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to investigate and prosecute House of Representatives member Alexander Mascot Ikwechegh, from Abia State, over allegations of assaulting a Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseya.

The petition, filed by Adeyanju’s law firm, Deji Adeyanju and Partners, accuses Ikwechegh of “grievous assault, abuse of power, attempted murder, and threat to life” against Abuwatseya.

Marvin Omorogbe, a founding partner of the firm, highlighted the severity of the alleged incident, stating, “We kindly request that you investigate the issues raised with a view to prosecuting Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh.”

According to the complaint, the assault occurred while Abuwatseya was delivering a package to Ikwechegh’s residence in the Maitama area of Abuja.

The lawmaker allegedly threatened the driver, warning he could “disappear” without consequence. Further threats included locking Abuwatseya in a generator room.

Ikwechegh’s alleged remarks and actions have sparked public outrage, with Adeyanju demanding accountability for what he described as an abuse of power.

The petition seeks a full investigation and potential prosecution to uphold justice and address the alleged misconduct.
