AFCON 2023: There will be no change of formation against Cameroon — Peseiro

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has said he will stick with the 3-4-3 system for Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations clash against arch-rivals Cameroon.

In the past two matches against Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau, the coach has chosen to use a 3-4-3 formation.

The Portuguese claimed there was no need for him to change a winning strategy. He, however, said it is important for his players to work on their finishing.

“I saw statistics yesterday, we created the highest number of chances in the group stage,” Peseiro told a press conference on Friday.

“If we create chances, then why do we need to change our style of play. Our team is playing well, we don’t need to change our strategy.

“What we need to do is start converting our chances. That’s what has been lacking for us.

“I think at times you can create less chances and score more goals. We hope things will improve for us in this aspect tomorrow.

“We want to score and win. It is important to defend well like we have been doing since the start of the competition.”

The Super Eagles and the Indomitable Lions are set to face off at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan this Saturday, with the match kicking off at 9 pm Nigeria time.
