In the aftermath of the Super Eagles’ triumphant 4-2 victory over their South African counterparts on Wednesday, a celebratory atmosphere took a dark turn in Lokoja, Kogi State, as one life was tragically lost.
The victim, identified as Lukman, in his late twenties, met his untimely demise while jubilating.
The incident happened along the bustling Murtala Mohamed way in Lokoja, where Lukman was enthusiastically celebrating the Super Eagles’ win on his motorcycle.
He was struck by a vehicle, along with his friend residing behind Igbo hall in the cemetery road suburb of Lokoja metropolis.
Their celebration took a fatal turn as they chose to drive against traffic, resulting in Lukman’s fatal collision with a vehicle. His friend also suffered severe injuries in the incident.
The late Lukman has already been laid to rest in the Kabawa area of the state capital, following Islamic rites.
