Ahead of their crucial quarter-final match against Angola at the Africa Cup of Nations, the Super Eagles will receive a boost from the Nigerian National Assembly.
The principal officers and members of the joint sports committees have announced plans to travel to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, to cheer the team on to victory.
The development comes after the Super Eagles’ impressive 2-0 win over Cameroon in the previous round, securing their spot in the quarter-finals.
Senator Kawu Sumaila, chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and disclosed the lawmakers’ support.
“I am happy with the Nigerian team’s performance at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations,” he said. “The principal officers of the National Assembly and the two Committees on Sports will also be in Cote d’Ivoire to watch the quarter finals with Angola.”
The Senator also addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding coach Jose Peseiro’s future. “We will look at it after the competition, am sure of victory for the Super Eagles against Angola,” he said.
