The recently sacked chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tony Okocha, has stormed the streets of Port Harcourt, leading a massive solidarity march for President Bola Tinubu.
This comes just a day after he was sacked by a court and replaced by Emeka Beke.
Okocha, a close ally of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has mobilized thousands of supporters from across the state for the mega rally.
Members of the Renewed Hope Family of Rivers State, led by Okocha, gathered at the Port Harcourt Polo Club, carrying banners and placards with messages of support for President Tinubu.
The rally, which is still ongoing, has caused heavy traffic congestion along Aba Road, as the large crowd of supporters marches through the city.
The motive of the rally is currently uncertain.
Okocha’s sack on Monday followed a court ruling that reinstated Emeka Beke as APC chairman in Rivers State. Beke’s executive was dissolved by the APC national working committee in November 2023, citing anti-party activities during the general election.
