Some suspected Boko Haram insurgents have raided Mafa village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The gunmen, armed with rifles and RPGs and riding on over 50 motorcycles, looted and set ablaze numerous shops and houses on Sunday, September 1.
DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Yobe police Command spokesman, revealed that the exact number of casualties remains unknown.
“We are yet to ascertain the number of lives lost in the incident,” Abdulkarim said.
Residents Babagana Goni and Bako Ibrahim reported the attack.
The terrorists also left behind fliers with Arabic inscriptions.
This incident follows another attack last Friday in neighbouring Geidam, where three students were killed and one injured at a private school.
The escalating violence in the region underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by local communities.
