
The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi on Wednesday, March 26, announced the donation of N15 million to the School of Midwifery of Holy Rosary Hospital, Emekuku, Owerri.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State has been known for his consistent donations to the education sector especially nursing and health colleges across the country.
In a post made on X, the former governor said he made the donation during his visit to the school.
Obi stated that during his visit, he engaged with the management and students of the institution as they had discussions around the advancement of healthcare and education in Nigeria.
He said, “Over the years, I have consistently advocated for increased and more strategic investments in the critical sectors of education and healthcare – sectors that form the bedrock of any thriving nation.
“In particular, I continue to emphasise the urgent need to encourage the training and empowerment of healthcare professionals, whose roles are indispensable to national and global development,” Obi wrote on X.
He added that with the monetary donation he made to the institution, he hopes to assist the school in its “noble mission of producing well-trained and highly competent healthcare workers.”
“Together, through sustained investment and shared commitment, we can build a healthier, more educated, and more hopeful nation,” Obi concluded.
