The Labour Party in Anambra State has thrown its weight behind the newly formed coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the alliance as a strategic step toward deepening democracy and promoting people-centred governance.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Awka and signed by Peter Okoye, chairman of the state caretaker committee, the party said the coalition enjoys the full backing of its national leader, Peter Obi.
“This strategic collaboration is in line with the broader goals and aspirations of the Labour Party to deepen democracy, promote good governance, and deliver people-oriented leadership,” the statement said.
The party described Obi’s participation in the coalition as a testament to the seriousness and promise of the new political realignment, urging party members across Anambra to support the initiative.
“We therefore urge all members, supporters, and stakeholders of the Labour Party in Anambra State to key into this important development,” the memo stated.
It added that the coalition represents an opportunity to build a formidable political force that reflects the will of Nigerians, particularly the “hardworking and enterprising citizens of Anambra State.”
The party promised to provide further details and guidelines to members in the coming days and thanked them for their loyalty to the party’s values.
