Senate President Godswill Akpabio has refuted reports that he promised to purchase new aircraft for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, despite the country’s economic challenges.
Akpabio described the report as false and the work of propagandists and fifth columnists.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Assistant on Print Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio clarified his position during a condolence visit to Senator Tahir Monguno, whose father had recently passed away.
The Senate President said the report was untrue and aimed at tarnishing his image.
Akpabio reassured Nigerians that the Senate is focused on delivering legislation that supports President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He expressed satisfaction with the improved security situation in Borno State and urged Nigerians to continue praying for the administration.
“I never said I would buy a new plane for the President and his Vice, regardless of Nigerians’ hunger or otherwise,” Akpabio stated. “It’s the handiwork of propagandists and fifth columnists who never see anything good in what we’re doing.”
He added, “Be rest assured, pray for the government, have patience, and be assured that the combination of Tinubu and Shettima will bring wealth and prosperity to all.” Akpabio commended the people of Borno for their support and encouraged them to continue backing the administration.
